Communications management is the systematic planning, implementing, monitoring, and revision of all the channels of communication within an organization, and between organizations; it also includes the organization and dissemination of new communication directives connected with an organization, network, or communications technology. Aspects of communications management include developing corporate communication strategies, designing internal and external communications directives, and managing the flow of information, including online communication.

Systems and methods for performing backup operations of virtual machine files

Backup systems and methods are disclosed for a virtual computing environment. Certain examples include a system having a backup management server that communicates with a host server having at least one virtual machine. The management server coordinates with the host server to perform backup copies of entire virtual machine disks from outside the guest operating system of the virtual machine. In certain examples, such backup systems further utilize a volume shadow copy service executing on the host server to quiesce virtual machine applications to put data in a consistent state to be backed up. The backup system then utilizes hypervisor snapshot capabilities of the host server to record intended changes to the virtual machine disk files while such files are being copied (e.g., backed up) by the host server. Such recorded changes can be later committed to the virtual machine disk files once the backup operation has completed.

Communication system, base station, terminal, communication device, communication management method, control program, and computer-readable recording medium containing the same

In a wireless communication system, a terminal is identified by a base station in accordance with beacon signals transmitted periodically from the base station, and to the identified terminal, the presence or absence of data to be transmitted and a period until a transmission of a next beacon signal are notified. A terminal-side wireless communication section in the terminal transmits, to the base station, a request for setting of a period between transmissions of beacon signals. A communication control section in the base station sets the period between transmissions of beacon signals in accordance with the request having been received from the terminal. With this arrangement, the terminal can optimize its period between receptions of beacon signals, thereby keeping OFF power supply to a communication circuit from a power source section until the timing for receiving a beacon signal. This allows the terminal to reduce its power consumption.

Method for data synchronization in web-based communications management system

Disclosed is a method for data synchronization in a web-based transmission device management system, in which managing data requiring synchronization between a web server and a client is constructed as a tree data structure, and a change flag for judging a data change is easily set. The web server increases a second event number by a certain degree whenever an event datagram is transmitted to the client, and the client judges whether or not the event datagram is lost by comparing the second event number and a first event number stored by the client whenever an event datagram is transmitted from the web server. If the event datagram is not lost, the client increases the first event number by a certain degree and performs data synchronization using the received event datagram. However, if the event datagram is lost, the client transmits every checksum of the leaf nodes in its tree data structure in one request datagram to the web server, and performs data synchronization by receiving changed data from the web server. Therefore, a loss of data is recognized promptly and precisely, and change of data on the web server also can be recognized promptly.

Client-To-Client Direct RTP Exchange In A Managed Client-Server Network

A method for establishing a data packet exchange communication session that allows the exchange of data packets between an originating client and a destination client in a data network having a client-server arrangement is provided. An originating client transmits communications session request data message to a communications management server via a first temporary signaling communications path. The communications session request data message contains at least a unique network address of a destination client. The communications management server, upon determining that said originating client is residing behind a first network firewall, determining whether said first network firewall will allow exchange of data packets between said originating client and any other client not residing behind said first network firewall. If it is determined that the first network firewall will allow exchange of data packets between said originating client and any other client not residing behind the first network firewall, the communications management server retrieves relationship information between said unique network address of said originating client and said unique network address of a first network firewall port and a first network firewall port identity, and establishes a data packet exchange communications session with said communications management server through said first network firewall. Otherwise, said communications management server, upon receiving a media packet communications session request data message from said originating client via said first temporary signaling communications path establishes a media packet exchange session with said originating client via said first network firewall.

Method and apparatus for providing a real-time message routing communications manager

A communications manager in a telecommunications transaction server communicates service request messages and service response messages between one or more remotely executing service request processes and one or more service applications executing on the transaction server. A main thread in the communications manager monitors connections requests and initializes other threads. A unique logical communications connection is established between one of the service request processes and the communications manager. The communications manager creates both a read thread and a write thread for each logical communication connection that is validated and active. The read thread communicates service request messages from a service request process to an appropriate service application. The write thread communications service response messages from the service application to the service request process that issues the service request message. A monitor thread collects service response messages from a queue and directs them to the appropriate write threads via an in-memory write queue.
