Abstract

The application provides a gateway access method and apparatus in Ethernet virtualization interconnection (EVI) networking. All edge devices (EDs) in the EVI networking are used as gateway devices, and are configured to have identical IP addresses and MAC addresses. Any ED executes the steps: determining a corresponding route according to a destination IP address of a data message received from a public network side; at an output port EVI LINK of the route, performing IP over IP GRE tunnel encapsulation on the data message and sending the data message through the output port of the route; and receiving the data message subjected to IP over IP GRE tunnel encapsulation through the EVI LINK, removing the encapsulation of the data message, determining a route used for forwarding the data message according to the destination IP address of the data message, and forwarding the data message, from which the IP GRE tunnel encapsulation is removed, through the output port of the determined route. The gateway access method realizes normal access of services, and also realizes seamless migration of a host in the EVI networking.
