A solar air conditioner comprises a solar photovoltaic panel, a storage battery charged by the solar photovoltaic panel, a frequency conversion compressor and an air conditioner controller. The control method includes the steps that residual electric quantity of the storage battery is detected; the actual frequency of the frequency conversion compressor is adjusted according to the residual electric quantity. According to the solar air conditioner control method, when the storage battery supplies power to the frequency conversion compressor, the actual frequency of the frequency conversion compressor is adjusted according to the residual electric quantity of the storage battery, as with reducing of the residual electric quantity of the storage battery, the actual frequency of the frequency conversion compressor is adjusted to be reduced, so that electricity consumption is reduced, and service life of the storage battery is prolonged. Moreover, as with gradual reducing of the residual electric quantity of the storage battery, the actual frequency of the frequency conversion compressor is not reduced without limitation, the actual frequency can be reduced to 70% of the target frequency at most, and thus greater influences on the cooling effect or the heating effect of the solar air conditioner are avoided.
