Embodiment Construction

[0014] Referring to the OSI reference model, the BIF specification defines both the physical layer and the data link layer. Such as figure 1 As shown, host device 101 (eg, a mobile phone) is coupled to battery pack 102 through a series of paired connections VBAT (battery voltage), BCL (battery communication line), and GND (ground). The host device 101 may include a master communication unit 103 and the battery pack 102 may include one or more slave units 106 . The battery pack 102 also includes a battery cell 107 coupled to the host device 101 through connectors VBAT and GND to supply power to the host device 101 . Although in figure 1 Not shown, but other slave units may also be coupled to the BCL within the host device 101 and / or within other battery packs.

[0015] Communication between the host device 101 and the battery pack 102 is performed on a single BCL line by switching BCL to GND. Master unit 103 sends data by toggling switch 108 (via processor 104 or another ci...

Abstract

A bus interface couples a master device with one or more slave devices. When a condition on the bus is detected, one or more slave devices may force the bus condition for a predetermined duration. This forced stretching may include forcing voltage levels that cause other devices on the bus to change modes. A master device on the bus can detect bus conditions outside the range of variation and, in response, take action to change the bus state to a stable condition. The bus interface may include power contacts and a single wire bus for communication between the host device and one or more battery packs.

Description

Background technique [0001] Mobile devices, such as cellular phones, portable computers, e-readers, and personal digital assistants, all use batteries for portability. In recent years, the Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) Alliance ("Mobile Industry Processor Interface Alliance") has developed a standard interface between batteries and mobile devices. The Battery Interface (BIF) specification defines the electrical and communication interface between the battery and the mobile device. The BIF specification supports both low-cost batteries and so-called "smart" batteries that contain active elements for handling safety features such as authentication, as well as other more advanced battery functions such as temperature monitoring. [0002] In some cases, a glitch may occur between the battery pack and the host device. Contents of the invention [0003] This section presents a brief summary of some variants of the invention. It is not intended to identify key or re...
