The invention relates to a device and a method for controlling operation of an air purifier in order to realize intelligent control of operation parameters of the air purifier and avoid unnecessary power consumption. The method includes: determining a three-dimensional space where the air purifier is placed currently; setting the operation parameters of the air purifier according to the three-dimensional space where the air purifier is placed currently. By adoption of the scheme, control of the operation parameters of the air purifier according to the three-dimensional space where the air purifier is placed currently is realized, operation of the air purifier can be controlled intelligently, the requirement of users on intelligentization is met, and the air purifier is enabled to operate with proper power consumption. If the three-dimensional space is large, the air purifier is controlled to operate by high-power-consumption operation parameters, and if the three-dimensional space is small, the purifier is controlled to operate by low-power-consumption operation parameters, so that unnecessary power consumption is avoided to further avoid energy waste.
