Abstract

Provided in the present invention are a method and device for random access. In the method, a user equipment (UE) transmits to a base station a pseudo-random number (PN) series that serves as a random access request. Because each PN series is provided with a characteristic of a small cross-correlation (quasi-orthagonal), no conflict is produced even when different UE select at the same time a same time-frequency access for random access, thus reducing the probability of conflicts and increasing the capacity of a random access channel.
