Abstract

A method for encoding a digital video image, in which an initial digital video image is taken in any format and having any resolution exceeding that required. During the encoding stage, the initial digital video image is segmented into a plurality of video frames and each video frame of the plurality of video frames is segmented into a plurality of units composed of pixels. An encoded digital video image is formed from a sequence of video frames in the following way. Each subsequent frame is added to the encoded video image if said frame is entirely different from the previous video frame. If each subsequent video frame repeats the previous video frame, then instead of said subsequent video frame being added to the formed digital video image, a command is added to repeat the previous video frame. If a video frame is not entirely different, then a command is added to the formed encoded video image to repeat the previous frame taking into account the differing units, wherein the video is encoded in such a way that the pixels in the encoded digital video image are square in shape, regardless of the extent of compression, and the encoded video image is saved to at least one media server.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method of digital video coding which can be used for efficient coding of video data in video file formats as well as streaming and broadcast video formats. Background technique [0002] Digital images such as videos, TV images, still images, or images generated using a VCR or PC contain pixels along horizontal and vertical lines. An image frame usually contains tens of thousands of pixels. Each pixel typically contains information about brightness and color. Unencrypted digital images contain a lot of information. Many encoding methods such as JPEG, MPEG and H.263 standards have been studied with the aim of reducing the amount of data to be transferred. A typical video encoder partitions frames of a source video sequence into rectangular regions or blocks encoded in intra or inter mode. Blocks are coded independently using some type of transform coding such as the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) method. [0003] ...
