The method comprises the following steps: collecting security features on the RMB to be identified; dividing the security features according to locating areas; setting the priority of each security feature in each identification area; calculating the similarity between each security feature and the standard security feature; judging the authenticity of each identification area according to the priority and similarity of the security feature, and if any identification area is judged to be counterfeit, the RMB is determined to be counterfeit.
