Embodiment Construction

[0020] In the various drawings, the same numerals indicate the same features. In general, aspects of the present disclosure address one or more issues of providing a pinch valve capable of meeting the demands of heavy industrial applications while providing ease of maintenance.

[0021] The following terms are used throughout this disclosure:

[0022] Pinch valve: A control valve that uses the pinching effect of an inner sleeve to impede fluid flow;

[0023] Sleeve: A tubular element that can be inserted into a pinch valve and can be compressed to prevent fluid flow through it.

[0024] Sheath: Part of the frame.

[0025] Pinch element: The movable part of the pinch valve used to exert force on the sleeve.

[0026] Pivot: An axis about which a component can turn.

[0027] Locking Element: A device used to hold a movable element in place.

[0028] Actuator: A device used to impart motion.

[0029] Hinge: A connecting device having a pivot that allows elements to swing rel...

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a pinch valve having upper and lower sheaths supporting upper and lower clamping elements, respectively. The upper and lower sheaths are adapted to receive the sleeve. A synchronizing mechanism drives the movement of the upper and lower clamping elements for clamping the sleeve. The upper and lower sheaths are connected by a pivot allowing pivoting of one or the other of the upper and lower sheaths for opening the pinch valve and easy access to the sleeve for maintenance.

Description

technical field [0001] This disclosure relates to the field of industrial valves. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to a pinch valve having pivotally mounted upper and lower sheaths. Background technique [0002] In general, pinch valves differ from conventional valves in that they exert force on the sleeve to prevent fluid flow, rather than having a closure element that impedes fluid flow. When in the open position, no closure element is present in the sleeve and liquid flow is not impeded by the presence of the valve. Pinch valves are often used in applications where solid or semi-solid materials such as powders, granules, pellets, fibers, or the like flow within the sleeve. They can be used, for example, in soft applications in sewage treatment plants, or in applications in heavy industry. [0003] At a point on the circumference of the sleeve, such as at the top of the circumference, conventional mechanical pinch valves use a movable closure that flatt...
