System and method for information management

The vast majority of today's busy families with computers, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and cell phones (all modern computing devices classified generally as computers), still use wall calendars, sticky notes, and kitchen message boards to coordinate their everyday activities. The complexity of family schedules and household information, ease of use, ease of access, and portability have remained powerful barriers to adoption of electronic solutions. This invention features computer-based input methods for use in group calendaring such that in the shortest possible amount of time, and with the least amount of effort, notations can be made of one or more events or tasks pertaining to one or more people using computers in one or more computer networks.

Single management point for a storage system or storage area network

There is disclosed a system, method, apparatus and computer program product for managing a storage system including a SAN within a computer network. The storage system can be managed in object-oriented computer language. Object trees of each component in the storage system or SAN are obtained and combined on each storage processor in the storage system. The user interface (UI) can therefore select one storage processor within the storage system, and request such combined object tree information for the entire storage system or SAN from only that singular storage processor on which such combined information is stored. This eliminates a severe computational drain on the UI, which otherwise would be required to make these object tree combinations, and further allows a single point of storage management contact between UI and storage system or SAN by way of that singular storage or portal processor. Commands from the UI destined for any node within the storage system or SAN are thus always addressed to that same single point of contact or portal processor allowing for ease of use and other advantages.

Valve key alignment assembly for curb stop box

A self-aligning curb box assembly is provided. The curb box includes a cylindrical conduit extending from the ground surface downwardly and has a detachable cover at its upper, surface end. The conduit has an inverted “U” shaped passageway formed at its lower end through which a generally horizontally oriented supply line, such as for water or gas, passes. The supply line has a valve body and an “open-to-shut” valve cock located in the line positioned within the passageway at the lower end of the curb box, the valve cock extending upwardly. The assembly includes a positioning insert placed within the curb box at its lower end thereof. The insert limits lateral movement of the valve body in any direction throughout 360° in the plane about the valve when the insert is installed. The insert prevents substantial movement, both laterally and vertically, of the valve body relative to the curb box, thereby permitting ease of access to the valve cock by a valve key extending through the curb box to the valve to turn the valve off (or on). Also provided are the curb box alignment insert itself and a method of its use in aligning the curb box and valve in order to gain access by a valve key from ground level to the valve cock in said buried valve.
