The surgical instrument may further comprise a handle, which is connected to the proximal end of the axis. The handle comprises a control unit, the control unit is electrically connected to the shaft, so that the axis can act as an antenna to transmit a signal from the control unit to the sensor and receive the transmitted signal from the sensor.
