The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for communicating information to services in a network environment. In an example embodiment, an example method is provided and includes receiving a packet of a subscriber at a gateway, wherein the gateway includes a local policy anchor and one or more classifiers, the local policy anchor using for contacting one or more policy servers, the one or more classifiers for contacting one or more service chains, each service chain including one or more services accessible by the gateway; determined to receive subscriber attaching the subscriber's packet to a header, wherein the header at least partially includes the subscriber's identifying information and the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the local policy anchor; and injecting the packet including the header into the In the service chain identified by the subscriber.
