Embodiment Construction

[0054] The embodiments of the present invention disclosed herein can avoid many problems of the prior art by adopting a novel Enhanced Slow Link Adaptation (ESLA) technique, including multiple stages of ELSA and BLER tracking.

[0055] The novel Enhanced SLA (ESLA) technique disclosed herein is illustrated by an example of an LTE / LTE-A type system, however, those skilled in the art will readily understand that the disclosed ESLA technique and apparatus can be applied to other forms of communication including slave receivers A wireless system for CSI feedback to a transmitter without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. For example, other systems suitable for applying the disclosed ESLA techniques and devices are GPRS, UTMS, W-LAN, WCDMA, etc. Some disclosed embodiments illustrate the implementation of user equipment side SLAs. Optionally, the disclosed ESLA technology and device can be easily applied to other mobile stations or wireless base stations, such as...

Abstract

A transceiver operable for selecting channel state information (CSI) of a communication link includes a radio frequency (RF) unit configured to receive a communication signal from the communication link and produce a received data signal, a processing apparatus coupled to the RF unit and configured to receive the data signal, and a memory coupled to the processing apparatus. The processing apparatus is configured to select the CSI with a fast link adaptation (FLA) stage, a first stage of enhanced slow link adaptation (ESLA), a second stage of ESLA, and a BLER tracking process.

Description

technical field [0001] Aspects of the invention generally relate to wireless communication systems, and more particularly to link adaptation techniques. Background technique [0002] With the proliferation of modern wireless communication devices such as mobile phones, smartphones, and tablets, the demand for large-capacity multimedia data has also increased. These demands include streaming broadcasting, multimedia online games, streaming music, TV on user equipment (UE) or mobile station (MS). To support this growing demand for higher data rates, new communication standards are being developed based on technologies such as Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO), Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), and Bit Interleaved Coded Modulation (BICM). form. Examples of these standards include Long Term Evolution (LTE) and LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) being developed by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), the 802.11 and 802.16 series proposed by the Institute of...
