Abstract

An electronic lockset with a radio frequency collecting circuit. In one embodiment, the electronic lock includes a mechanical locking portion movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. One or more energy dissipating devices are arranged in the electronic lock, which drive the mechanical locking part to move between locked positions and unlocked positions. A rechargeable battery powers the energy consuming device. The battery is wirelessly charged using a radio frequency ("RF") transmitter and a radio frequency energy harvesting loop. Typically, a radio frequency transmitter is configured to transmit at a predetermined frequency. A radio frequency energy harvesting loop is tuned to the predetermined frequency and electrically coupled to the rechargeable battery to charge the battery.

Description

[0001] related application [0002] This patent application claims U.S. Provisional Patent Application 61 / 820,437, entitled "Electronic Lockset with Multi-Source Energy Harvesting," filed May 7, 2013 and filed on March 12, 2013. U.S. Provisional Patent Application 61 / 777,872, entitled "Electronic Lockset with Multi-Source Energy Harvesting," filed on July 1, 2010, both of which are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety. technical field [0003] The present invention relates generally to electronic locks; more specifically, the present invention relates to a circuit for harvesting energy from multiple sources to extend battery life in an electronic lock. Background technique [0004] Electronic locks are well known. These types of locks require electrical power to operate. Typically, existing electronic locks use multiple batteries to power the electronics. Batteries wear down over time and eventually need to be replaced. Before the battery can be replaced, t...
