Embodiment Construction

[0020] Aspects of the present disclosure relate to recognizing gestures performed by athletes in order to invoke specific functions on the athletic performance monitoring device. In addition to gesture information, gestures may be identified from including athletic data representing one or more athletic activities performed by an athlete / user. Athletic data may be actively or passively sensed and / or stored in one or more non-transitory storage media and used to generate output, such as calculated athletic attributes, feedback signals to provide guidance, and / or other information . These and other aspects will be discussed in the context of the following illustrative embodiments of a personal training system.

[0021] In the following description of various embodiments, reference is made to the accompanying drawings, which form a part hereof, and in which are shown by way of illustrations various embodiments in which aspects of the disclosure may be practiced . It is to be u...

Abstract

A wrist-worn athletic performance monitoring system, including a gesture recognition processor configured to execute gesture recognition processes. Interaction with the performance monitoring system may be based, at least in part, on gestures performed by the user, and offer an alternative to making selections on the performance monitoring system using physical buttons, which may be cumbersome and/or inconvenient to use while performing an athletic activities. Additionally, recognized gestures may be used to select one or more operational modes for the athletic performance monitoring systems such that a reduction in power consumption may be achieved.
