Further, it is possible to reduce the load of the low voltage converter in the sections of parking, acceleration and constant speed running and increase the energy recovery in the section of deceleration running. Abstract

The present invention provides an apparatus and method for controlling a converter. The device includes a battery and a sensor configured to sense the battery to generate sensor battery status information. The converter controller is configured to acquire the sensor battery state information and the vehicle state information received from the vehicle controller to calculate corrected battery state information based on whether a correction execution condition with respect to the sensor battery state information is satisfied. In addition, the converter controller uses the corrected battery state information and the sensor battery state information to calculate an error correction value, and uses the error correction value to calculate actual battery state information. The converter is then configured to power the battery based on the sensor battery status information or the actual battery status information.
