The method comprises following steps: when illuminating lamps of a terminal are in an on-state, detecting the luminance value in the current environment of the terminal in real time or regularly; obtaining a first illuminating luminance value within an illuminating luminance range matching the luminance value of the current environment according to the corresponding relation between preset environment luminance values and the illuminating luminance range; controlling the illuminating lamps to illuminate at the first illuminating luminance value. By means of the method, no matter how high or how low of the luminance value of the current environment is, the terminal can always control the illuminating lamps to illuminate at an illuminating luminance value which is suitable for the terminal in the current environment. Compared with correlative technologies of illuminating with strong illumination intensity in dark environment, by means of the method, eye irritation due to strong illumination in dark environment can be avoided so that damage to users can be reduced.
