Abstract

The invention discloses a method and a device for identifying the category of an image, an image search method and an image search device. The method for identifying the category of an image comprises the following steps: getting an image to be identified; determining a first confidence that the image to be identified belongs to each predetermined category; when the number of categories of which the first confidence is greater than a first threshold is smaller than a predetermined number, calculating a second confidence that the image to be identified belongs to each of corresponding cross-correlated categories for the categories of which the first confidence is between a second threshold and the first threshold; and selecting a plurality of target categories with higher second confidence, and taking the categories of which the first confidence is greater than the first threshold and the target categories as the identification result of the category of the image to be identified. By using the method, category identification error caused by the difference between the features of images of the same category and the overlap between the features of images of different categories is inhibited as much as possible, and the accuracy of category identification is improved effectively.
