Embodiment Construction

[0028] Reference will now be made in detail to different embodiments, examples of which are shown in the drawings. The different exemplary embodiments are not intended to limit the invention. On the contrary, the present invention is intended to cover alternative solutions, modifications and equivalents.

[0029] According to various exemplary embodiments, the present invention is intended to eliminate the brake torque variation in the vehicle brake system. The brake torque variation (BTV) occurs due to the circumferential variation of the thickness of the disc brake rotor in the disc brake system (disc thickness variation (DTV)) or due to the lack of cylindricity of the brake drum in the drum brake. The change in the thickness of the disc during braking produces a harmonic modulation of the braking force. Accordingly, the oscillation of the braking force causes different modes of wheel suspension, and changes in the vehicle chassis can be felt by the driver, or can be transmit...

Abstract

Systems and methods for cancelling brake torque variation in a motor vehicle are disclosed. Signals indicative of brake torque variation are received at a controller. Based on the signals, a frequency associated with the indicated brake torque variation is determined. At least one of an output time and output volume of pressurized brake fluid is adjusted based on the frequency to cancel the indicated brake torque variation.

Description

Technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to eliminating changes in braking torque in the brake system components of a vehicle, for example due to vibrations of the brake system components that are bent or scored. More specifically, the present invention relates to a system and method for actively eliminating brake chatter or irregularity in an automobile brake system. Background technique [0002] The motor vehicle braking system inhibits the rotation of the vehicle wheels to slow down and stop the vehicle. Vehicle braking systems typically include hydraulic braking systems with disc brakes and / or drum brakes. The disc brake includes a brake pad that is engaged with a rotor to slow down the vehicle, and the rotor is connected to the tire of the vehicle. The drum brake includes a brake shoe that is engaged with a brake drum to slow down the vehicle, and the brake drum is interconnected with the tire of the vehicle. [0003] However, under slight braking pres...
