Abstract

The present application provides a method for in situ forming of laminated glass structures. The method includes providing a laminated glass structure comprising a sheet of flexible glass laminated to a non-glass substrate by an adhesive material, the sheet of flexible glass having a thickness no greater than about 0.3 mm. The laminated glass structure is cut on-site with a hand-held power tool, resulting in a shaped laminated glass structure. The edge strength of the cut edge of the shaped laminated glass structure is at least about 20 MPa.

Description

[0001] Related Application Cross Reference [0002] This application claims priority under 35 U.S.C. §119 to U.S. Provisional Application Serial No. 61 / 937133, filed February 7, 2014, upon which this application is based, the contents of which are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to glass laminate structures, and more particularly to methods of shaping laminated glass structures. Background technique [0004] Laminated glass structures are used to produce various appliances, automotive components, building structures or components for electronic devices. For example, laminated glass structures can be incorporated as protective glass into various end products such as refrigerators, backsplashes, decorative glazing or televisions. However, due to limitations in the hand tools that may be used and the nature of the laminated glass structure, it may be difficult to cut or otherwise shape the laminated gl...
