Abstract

The invention provides a message response method and apparatus, applied to a switching device. The method comprises the following steps: receiving a message sent by a user terminal; when it is detected that a connection with a controller is disconnected, determining whether the received message is an address request message; when it is determined that the received message is the address request message, acquiring a first address carried in the address request message; judging whether a forwarding flow table entry containing the first address exists, wherein a corresponding relation of the first address and a second address is recorded in the forwarding flow table entry; when the forwarding flow table entry containing the first address exists, acquiring the second address in the forwarding flow table entry; and replying an address response message to the user terminal, wherein the address response message carries the second address. By adopting the method provided by the invention, the traffic interruption problem after the switching device and the controller are disconnected can be avoided, thereby improving the stability of an SDN network.
