Abstract

The invention provides a message response method and apparatus, applied to a switching device. The method comprises the following steps: receiving a message sent by a user terminal; when it is detected that a connection with a controller is disconnected, determining whether the received message is an address request message; when it is determined that the received message is the address request message, acquiring a first address carried in the address request message; judging whether a forwarding flow table entry containing the first address exists, wherein a corresponding relation of the first address and a second address is recorded in the forwarding flow table entry; when the forwarding flow table entry containing the first address exists, acquiring the second address in the forwarding flow table entry; and replying an address response message to the user terminal, wherein the address response message carries the second address.
