Means for trapping the gas are provided for extracting all the gas or selectively extracting the gas from the electrolytic smelting cell 2 . The collecting pipe 5 is the length of the electrolytic smelting tank and collects the gas trapped near the smelting tank. Two connecting pipes 6 provide the connection between the collecting pipes 5, the length of which is the length of the smelting tank 2 and which are positioned transverse to each other. These two connecting pipes 6 are connected together to an intake conduit 7 which brings the gas to a gas treatment center (GTC) 8 .
