Abstract

Embodiments of the invention provide a method and a device for searching merchant names. The method comprises: segmenting words for a to-be-searched merchant name, and aimed at each segmented word, according to the word meaning of the segmented word, determining word meaning probability that the segmented word is used as each element; according to the word meaning probability that the segmented word is used as each element and position probability of each element in a merchant name, determining an element attribute of the segmented word; finally, according to the element attribute of each segmented word, searching a matched merchant name of the to-be-searched merchant name from a search library. In the method, after word segmentation is performed on the to-be-searched merchant name, element attribute of each segmented word is determined according to the word meaning and position of each segmented word, and then according to the element attribute of each segmented word, the merchant name matched with the to-be-searched merchant name is searched. Compared with a conventional keyword search and matching algorithm, the method based on element attribute determines significance of the segmented word according to element attribute. The method gets rid of dependence on word frequency or search frequency, so that a problem of mismatching of a similar merchant name is effectively solved.
