The method comprises the steps of: after a system installation package of a preinstallation version is downloaded, detecting a current electric quantity value of a terminal, and if the current electric quantity value is lower than a preset electric quantity threshold value, sending first prompt information to a user, wherein the first prompt information is used for prompting the user to updating the current system when an electric quantity value of the terminal reaches the preset electric quantity threshold value; when the electric quantity value of the terminal reaches the preset electric quantity threshold value, updating the current system according to the system installation package of the preinstallation version. According to the technical solution, when an electric quantity value is lower than the preset electric quantity threshold value, a current system is not updated and prompt information is sent to a user only; when an electric quantity value of the terminal reaches the preset electric quantity threshold value, the current system is updated automatically, so that the number of times of operation of users is reduced, the time of users is saved and systems can be updated more simply and rapidly.
