In certain embodiments, aspects of the present invention are shown to be beneficial when used in the context of current detection and limitation. In some embodiments, current detection and limitation is related to power provided using the USB interface. Abstract

A system provides current sensing in an integrated circuit (IC) chip while compensating for variations in circuit components caused by process, voltage source, temperature, or a combination thereof. The system may include an IC chip having a power switching circuit including a power circuit path including a first transistor through a first conductive trace having a first resistance value Connected to a power source and connected to a load through a second conductive trace having a second resistance value. A current sensing circuit is configured to compensate for variations in the power switching circuit using a sensing circuit path configured to match process, voltage source, and temperature variations in the power circuit path.
