Embodiment Construction

[0034] Described herein are devices and methods for securing sutures with suture clips. Figure 1-Figure 5 and Figure 7-Figure 19 An exemplary suture clip deployment device 2 is shown. Device 2 can be loaded with one or more suture clips, such as Figure 6 An exemplary disk-shaped suture clip 18 is shown in , and can be used to continuously deploy a loaded suture clip onto one or more sutures, such as during intracardiac implantation of a prosthetic device. While any of the disclosed suture clips can be used to secure a single suture, or can be used to secure multiple sutures or suture segments simultaneously, this description proceeds with reference to a non-limiting example in which each suture clip is deployed to two sutures. Line segments for ease of description.

[0035] Such as figure 1As shown, device 2 includes a handle portion 4 capable of being held and actuated by a user and a shaft portion 6 capable of being at least partially inserted into the body to deploy ...

Abstract

Disclosed herein is a suture clip delivery device capable of being loaded with several flat disk-shaped suture clips and capable of deploying the suture clips one by one to the corresponding suture line without reloading the device with additional suture clips. An exemplary device includes a handle portion having an actuation mechanism coupled to a shaft portion that retains and deploys a suture clip. The shaft portion includes a mandrel on which the suture clips are mounted and a retainer that limits proximal movement of the suture clips when the actuation mechanism pulls the mandrel proximally. The mandrel is slid out and deployed onto one or more sutures. The mandrel and remaining suture clips can then be moved distally in preparation for deployment of the next suture clip.
