A tissue fastening device includes a suture clip holder and a suture cutter. A suture clip can be releasably secured to the suture clip holder, and a suture line or lines can pass through the clip and adjacent the suture cutter. A first movement of a control handle causes the suture clip to be released from the suture clip holder, and a second movement of the control handle causes the suture cutter to cut the suture line or lines. The first movement is different from the second movement. The first movement can be rotational, with the second movement being longitudinal. Alternatively, the first movement can be longitudinal, with the second movement being rotational. The device may include a main body, an inner body, and an outer body.

In accordance with the present invention there is provided a suturing device. The suturing device includes a length of suture that will be delivered to the site of the PFO and placed through the tissue adjacent the opening to close the PFO. As described in greater detail below, the suture is advanced through the tissue surrounding the opening by a pair of needles that penetrate the tissue adjacent to the opening. A knot is then loosely tied with the length of suture and advanced to the site of the PFO. The tails of the suture extending from the knot are then cut and removed. It is also contemplated that a pre-formed or pre-tied knot may be disposed on the device, wherein after deployment of the suture through the tissue adjacent to the PFO and removal of the device a loop of suture having a pre-tied knot will remain, wherein the pre-tied knot may then be tightened to close the PFO. Further still it is contemplated that other means may be utilized to retain the sutures. For example, it is contemplated that a suture clip or other clip like device may be utilized to retain the suture in a position such that the PFO is closed.

A suture clamping system, including a plurality of elements positioned together in a row, wherein at least one of the elements is flexible, the plurality of elements each being dimensioned such that an opening slot is formed through the row of elements when the at least one flexible element is biased into a first position, and wherein a tortuous path is formed through the row of elements when the elements are not biased. A method of clamping a suture pair, including biasing a row of adjacent flexible elements to a first position in which an opening slot is formed therealong; receiving the suture pair into the opening slot; and removing the biasing such that the adjacent flexible elements move to positions which hold the suture pair in a tortuous path.

Suture clips and suture clip loading, delivery, locking and severing devices in both catheter and endoscopic embodiments are disclosed that permit the delivery and application of suture clips directly in contact with or in close approximation to sutured tissue. The catheter or endoscopic versions incorporate a collet cage with a plurality of flexible collet fingers that captivate a suture clip ring and a suture clip plug for assembly with a suture. An outer sliding sleeve constrains the collet fingers when distally advanced to minimize potential trauma during delivery and assembly of the suture clip in close proximity to the stitched tissue. A suture clip loading device for loading suture clip components into the delivery system as well as a threader for threading sutures into the suture clip systems are also disclosed. A method of loading, delivering and deploying suture clips is further disclosed.

Suture clip appliers, suture clips and methods of their use for securing sutures during an endoscopic or laparoscopic procedure are provided, wherein the method includes the steps of providing a suture clip applier having a working tip configured to retain and fire a suture clip; providing a suture clip having a biased closed configuration; loading the suture clip into the working tip of the clip applier; translating the suture clip distally relative to the working tip to a first position wherein the suture clip is splayed open; inserting a suture into the opened suture clip; and translating the suture clip distally relative to the working tip such that the suture clip is ejected from the working tip and biased to the closed configuration to close on and to retain the suture.

A system is disclosed for securing a suture. The system includes a deformable suture clip having a pair of closely spaced panels configured for movement between an open position wherein a suture can pass between the two panels and a closed position wherein the suture can be securely clamped between the two panels. The system further includes a clip applicator having an elongated body defining opposed proximal and distal end portions. The distal end portion of the body includes a mounting fixture having structure for supporting the suture clip in an open position. The clip applicator further includes a mechanism for dislodging the suture clip from the mounting fixture, such that the panels of the clip move to the closed position to securely clamp the suture therebetween.

The invention discloses a suture clip and a releasing method thereof. The invention discloses a medical suture clip arranged at the tail end of an interventional operation apparatus. The medical suture clip comprises a sleeve pipe embedded at the tail end of the interventional operation apparatus and a pull line penetrating through the center of the interventional operation apparatus and the center of the sleeve pipe. The present invention relates to the field of medical devices and particularly relates to a double-arm suture clip capable of closing wound surfaces. The double-arm suture clip comprises a control assembly, and an upper suture clip assembly and a lower suture clip assembly arranged oppositely on the control assembly, and further comprises a sleeve. The upper suture clip assembly and the lower suture clip assembly each comprise a clip plate, a clip head, a front positioning pin and a rear positioning pin, the clip plates pass through both ends of the sleeve, the front positioning pins and the rear positioning pins are respectively arranged at both ends in the sleeve, and one end of each clip head is arranged on the corresponding clip plate. During use of the double-arm suture clip capable of closing the wound surfaces, release notches in the clip plates cooperate with clinch bolts on the clip plates, at the same time, when sliding rings are pulled, one end of a connector slides in a fixed seat and applies a reverse force to the sleeve, the reverse force forces the connector to separate from the sleeve, and at the same time connection places of the clip plates and clip heads also have a reverse force, so that the release notches of the clip heads release out the clinch bolts on the clip plates under the reverse force.

The invention discloses a pair of operating forceps with suture clip fixing devices. The pair of operating forceps comprises an operating forceps body, wherein the operating forceps body comprises a first clamping arm and a second clamping arm; the first clamping arm is hinged to the second clamping arm to form the operating forceps body; a first suture clip fixing sheet and a second suture clip fixing sheet are arranged on the same side of the operating forceps body; the first suture clip fixing sheet is located at the head part of the operating forceps body; the second suture clip fixing sheet is located at the middle rear part of the operating forceps body; an opening is formed in each of the first suture clip fixing sheet and the second suture clip fixing sheet. Disclosed herein are suture clip delivery devices that can be loaded with several flat, disk-shaped suture clips and can deploy the suture clips one after another onto respective sutures without reloading the device with additional suture clips. An exemplary device includes a handle portion with an actuation mechanism that is coupled to a shaft portion that holds and deploys the suture clips. The shaft portion includes a mandrel on which the suture clips are mounted and a retainer that restricts the suture clips from moving proximally when the actuation mechanism pulls the mandrel proximally, which causes a distal-most suture clip to slide off the mandrel and be deployed onto one or more suture. The mandrel and remaining suture clips can them move distally to prepare to deploy the next suture clip.

A surgical device that includes an outer hollow body and an inner hollow body. The inner hollow body is slidably disposed within said outer hollow body and the inner hollow body includes at least two hollow arms located at the distal end of the inner hollow body. An inflatable member is rotatably attached to each hollow arm of the inner hollow body. At least a pair of suture rings are rotatably coupled to the outer hollow body wherein the suture rings are in parallel to each other and are coupled to each other by a plurality of suture clips.

The suture clip applier includes an elongated body having a tissue clinching mechanism at one end of the body. The tissue clinching mechanism comprises two arms that are movable between open and clinched positions. Disclosed herein are annular prosthetic devices, such as annuloplasty rings, that include suture clips integrated into or mounted within an annular frame. The clips can quickly secure to sutures to obviate the need to tied knots in the sutures during implantation. Embodiments comprise an annular frame having an open central region and a plurality of suture clips spaced angularly apart around the frame. Each of the suture clips can comprise two opposing tabs that extend toward each other such that the suture clip forms a gripping region between ends of the tabs and the gripping region is configured to grip a suture inserted through the suture clip between the two tabs. The annular frame and the plurality of suture clips can be formed from a single piece of flat material with the suture clip tabs being formed by laser cutting the piece of flat material, or the suture clips can be movable along a track formed in the annular frame.
