Abstract

The present invention discloses methods and apparatus that, in some aspects, provide low-cost touch-sensitive user interfaces including static printed displays. The methods and systems may include providing illumination to guide a user through an interaction with a touch-sensitive user interface. The methods and systems may include configurable printed displays. A further aspect of the disclosure provides the use of a low cost touch sensitive user interface in a beverage dispensing device.

Description

Background technique [0001] Touch-sensitive displays typically consist of a touch-sensitive surface stacked in layers on top of a liquid crystal display. Although touch displays are widely used in mobile devices and other consumer products, their cost has limited their use in some other products. For example, many beverage dispensing machines do not currently use modern touch user interface capabilities due to the low cost requirements of these dispensing machines to keep beverage prices to a minimum. To consumers accustomed to modern touch user interfaces, these beverage dispensing machines may appear old or outdated. Consumers may not like the experience of dispensing beverages from these machines. Therefore, there is a need to implement touch-based user interfaces in an inexpensive manner.
