Embodiment Construction

[0023] like Figure 1-Figure 5 As shown, one aspect of the present invention includes a hand tool assembly generally comprising a handle 10 and a tool head 32 joined by a connector 12 . The handle 10 has a first end 10a and a second end 10b. The elongated handle 10 may be made of any suitable material, including metal, wood, or fiberglass. In one embodiment, the gripping device 30 may be integrated with the first end 10a of the handle to increase comfort and ease of use. The connector 12 has a first end 12a and a second end 12b (see Figure 6-Figure 9 ). The first end 12a of the connector has an opening 20 adapted to receive the second end of the handle 10b. The second end 12b of the connector is adapted to receive the second end of the handle 10b. The second end 12b of the connector is adapted to be inserted into the socket 34 of the tool head 32 to help fill the void within the socket 34 . The connector 12 is flexible, thereby allowing it to bend and conform to the sha...

Abstract

The present invention discloses a hand tool assembly generally comprising a handle and a tool head joined by a connecting member. The handle has a first end and a second end. The connector has a first end and a second end. The first end of the connector is combined with the second end of the handle. The second end of the connector is engaged with the tool head by inserting the connector into a socket / opening in the tool head. The second end of the connector is flexible, thereby allowing it to adapt to the shape of the socket, whether the socket is straight or curved. A rigid tube insert is disposed a short distance within the second end of the handle and extends outward a short distance from the second end of the handle. Adhesives or fasteners can be used to help hold the parts together.

Description

[0001] This application is based on US Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 62 / 156,743, filed May 4, 2015, the full disclosure of which is expressly incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0002] The present invention relates generally to hand-held tools such as shovels, rakes, axes, tuning forks or similar tools, and more particularly to apparatus and methods utilizing flexible connections for joining the handle of the tool with the head of the tool. Background technique [0003] Historically, most hand tools included an opening / socket in the metal neck of the workpiece head into which a wooden handle was inserted and secured by friction or by fasteners such as rivets, screws, screws, sleeves or similar / jack. The metal socket in the head is required to provide sufficient strength at the connection to allow the wooden handle to function when subjected to bending or torsional stress while resisting collapse. [0004] During manufacture, the length of the s...
