Abstract

The invention relates to a fiber combiner and a method of manufacturing the same, a semiconductor laser, and a method of reducing recurrent light of a fiber. The fiber combiner comprises an input fiber bundle and an output fiber. The input fiber bundle consists of a plurality of input optical fibers and a tapered optical fiber; one end of each of input optical fibers is processed by fused biconical taper treatment to form the tapered optical fiber; one end of the tapered optical fiber is connected with the plurality of input optical fibers and the other end is welded with the output fiber; andat least one part of the outer surface of a cladding layer of the tapered optical fiber has an irregular structure. According to the invention, because the irregular structure is formed at the outersurface of the cladding layer, the incident angle of the partial recurrent light emitted outwardly from the cladding layer at the outer surface of the cladding layer is smaller than a critical angle;and thus the part of recurrent light refracts the cladding layer, so that the recurrent light is reduced effectively.
