Problems solved by technology

[0004] A disadvantage is that when a conductor is introduced into the known piercing terminal in order to notch the insulating layer surrounding the electrical conductor, the force applied for placing the conductor acts on the carrier material via the piercing terminal, ie for example acting on the circuit board or other components connected to the piercing terminal
This known solution of piercing terminals is therefore usually only suitable for small conductor cross-sections, usually up to 6mm 2 , because the force used to notch the insulation when introducing conductors with large cross-sectional areas can cause damage on circuit boards or other components

Embodiment Construction

[0028] The invention is described in detail below with the aid of the preceding figures. figure 1 A schematic view of the tool according to the invention and of the piercing terminal 11 is shown in an exploded view. figure 2 with image 3 A side view of the tool with a view in the direction of the conductor end 12 or a view in the direction of the conductor longitudinal side 13 is shown, respectively.

[0029] The tool according to the invention is constructed and constructed for connecting an electrical conductor 15 surrounded by an insulating layer 14 to a piercing terminal 11 . The piercing terminal 11 comprises at least two contact elements 16 . The contact elements 16 each form a conductor holding groove 17 . The contact element 16 thus forms and forms a clamping electrical contact for the electrical conductor 15 . The contact elements 16 are each connected to solder pins 32 for circuit board assembly or alternatively are formed in one piece with the contact elements...

Abstract

The invention relates to a tool for connecting an electrical conductor (15), which is sheathed by an insulation, to an insulation-displacement terminal (11), wherein the insulation-displacement terminal (11) has at least two contact elements (16) which each form a conductor clamping slot (17) and which are designed to make terminal contact with the electrical conductor (15), wherein the tool comprises a housing element (18) which is designed to be mounted onto the contact elements (16), and wherein the housing element (18) has a first recess (19) for receiving a stamp element (21) which is displaceably mounted in a conductor insertion direction (22), and a second recess (20) which is designed to receive the electrical conductor (15) transverse to the conductor insertion direction (22), andwherein cutting means (23) which form a cutting region (24) are arranged in the housing element (18) in such a way that, when the stamp element (21) is displaced out of a mounting position for insertion of the electrical conductor (15) into the conductor clamping slot (17) into a clamping position, the insulation (14) first engages with the cutting means (23) such that it is at least partially severed. The invention further relates to an insulation-displacement terminal (11) which is adapted and designed to make clamping contact with an electrical conductor (15), which is sheathed by an insulation (14), by applying the above-mentioned tool.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a tool for connecting an electrical conductor surrounded by insulation to a piercing terminal. Furthermore, the invention relates to a piercing terminal, which is adapted and designed for clamping and electrical contacting of an electrical conductor surrounded by an insulating layer. Background technique [0002] Piercing terminals of the type mentioned at the outset are used as conductor connection terminals, in particular as printed circuit board terminals. In the piercing terminal connection technology, also known as IDC technology, the electrical conductors to be connected, sheathed in insulation, are introduced into the piercing terminal and brought into electrical contact by laying without prior removal of the insulating layer. [0003] Such a piercing terminal is known, for example, from document DE 8813518, in which, before entering the conductor clamping groove forming the clamping position, the insulation of the cond...
