Embodiment Construction

[0028] Examples of the present disclosure may include accessories for coupling to imaging devices. The accessories may include one or more sheaths and a connector for coupling the one or more sheaths to the imaging device. The imaging device may be a ureteroscope or any other device with an imaging system for viewing inside the patient. In some examples, a second sheath can be positioned around the distal portion of the first sheath, and the first sheath can be coupled to the connector. In some examples, the accessory may allow a medical practitioner to perform a cystoscopy procedure and a ureteroscopy procedure using the same cameras, lighting, and other equipment. Related methods disclosed in this application may allow medical practitioners to eliminate certain steps typically associated with ureteroscopy procedures.

[0029] The terms "proximal" and "distal" are used herein to refer to the relative positions of components of an exemplary medical device. As used herein, "...

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority under 35 U.S.C. §119 to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 288,707, filed January 29, 2016, the entire contents of which application are incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] Embodiments of the present disclosure relate generally to medical devices for providing an access pathway through a patient's urethra. Background technique [0004] Ureteroscopy is an examination of a patient's ureters or kidneys using a ureteroscope. A ureteroscope typically includes a long, thin, flexible section that can be inserted through the patient's urethra, bladder, and ureteral orifice connecting the bladder to the ureter. Ureteroscopes also typically include a camera and lighting system to adequately visualize the path of the scope and the working area within the ureter or kidney. Typically, ureteroscopy procedures involve the management of stones that already lodge in the ...
