The invention relates to an air outlet for a vehicle, comprising a housing with an air inlet opening and an air outlet opening, between which a flow connection is formed, further comprising a slat carrier, mounted movably in the housing, and a shut-off element which is movable between a closed position, in which it blocks the flow connection, and an open position, in which it frees the flow connection, the slat carrier being mounted movably in the housing, the slat carrier being coupled to the shut-off element such that, by actuation of the slat carrier, the shut-off element is adjustable between the closed position and the open position, the shut-off element being adjustable into intermediate positions between the closed position and the open position, starting from the closed position and/or starting from the open position, by actuation of the slat carrier, the shut-off element remaining in said intermediate positions until the slat carrier is actuated again.
