Abstract

A communication handover method is disclosed. The method includes measuring, by a piece of user equipment (UE), candidate virtual cells (VCs) and candidate transmission points (TPs) to obtain measurement results, wherein each VC includes multiple TPs that share a common physical cell identifier (PCI); selecting, by the UE, a target VC and a target TP from the candidate VCs and candidate TPs according to the measurement results; and accessing, by the UE, to the target VC and target TP. A piece of UE and a base station are further disclosed. Thus, both the physical layer and the virtual layer can be transferred when the UE is transferred to the VC.
