Problems solved by technology

[0015] However, drive chains are rarely used in elevator installations, since polygonal effects and the resulting uneven, jerky movements of the elevator car can be avoided with difficulty or only with great effort

Embodiment Construction

[0082] Although the embodiments of the links presented here, or the drive chains which may be combined therefrom, may be used for various purposes, particularly in moving walkways, escalators and lifts, the following will mainly use the application in escalators as an example to describe them. possible implementation.

[0083] figure 1 An exemplary escalator 1 is shown by which persons can be transported, for example, between two levels E1 , E2 . figure 2 A perspective view of the end region of such an escalator 1 with a conventional drive chain is shown.

[0084] The escalator 1 has two endless closed drive chains 3 . The two transmission chains 3 consist of a plurality of chain links 4 . In the conventional drive chain 3 shown, the chain links 4 are formed as rigid, sheet-metal shaped chain shafts. The two drive chains 3 are displaceable along the travel path in the direction of travel 5 . The drive chains 3 run parallel to one another and are here spaced apart from on...

Abstract

The invention relates to chain links (52) and a conveyor chain (5), which can be assembled with same and which is highly resilient in a tensile direction, for a moving walkway, an escalator (1) or a lift (90). A chain link has two chain link connector receiving regions (54) arranged at opposing ends of the chain link (52) for receiving a chain link connector (62), which mechanically connects two neighbouring chain links (52) to one another in such a way that a tensile force can be transmitted from one chain link to the neighbouring chain link. The chain link (52) also has a loop (56) closed ina ring shape and surrounding the two chain link connector receiving regions (54). The loop (56) is formed with a fibre composite material (57). The fibre composite material (57) is preferably in theform of a loop-like closed band, in which fibres (58), such as carbon fibres that can be subjected to high levels of tension, are embedded in an elastomer-matrix material (60). The chain links (52) are therefore very resistant to tension, however they are flexible in a bending direction (63) perpendicular to same. With a deflecting of the conveyor chain on a conveyor wheel, using support structures that are radially outwardly supporting the loop (56), the shape of the chain links is adapted to that of the conveyor wheel, and in this way, polygon effects and resulting jerking during the conveying of the conveyor chain are avoided.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a chain link, which is suitable for forming a transmission chain capable of bearing high loads in the direction of traction of a moving walkway, an escalator or an elevator. Furthermore, the present application relates to a drive chain constructed with such a chain link. Furthermore, the invention relates to a conveyor belt drive for a moving walkway or escalator with such a drive chain and to an elevator installation with such a drive chain. Background technique [0002] Moving walkways (sometimes called moving walkways) and escalators (sometimes called escalators) are commonly used to move people in a horizontal direction or in a direction inclined to the horizontal. In the case of a moving walkway, a plurality of pallets are arranged one after the other parallel to one another, so that the pallets together form a revolving conveyor belt. Similarly, in an escalator, a plurality of tread steps are arranged one behind the oth...
