Abstract

A method of securing an optical fiber within a fiber optic connector includes applying heat to a front end section of a ferrule through a heating sleeve. The heating sleeve at least partially surrounds the front end section of the ferrule and heats adhesive residing within the ferrule to a fixed temperature. The optical fiber is inserted into the fiber optic connector and passed through the adhesive. When the adhesive reaches the fixing temperature, the optical fiber is fixed in the ferrule shaft hole by the adhesive.

Description

[0001] priority application [0002] This application claims U.S. Application No. 15 / 285,948, filed October 5, 2016, U.S. Provisional Application No. 62 / 394,328, filed September 14, 2016, and U.S. Provisional Application No. 62 / 328, filed August 23, 2016 378,434, the contents of which are the basis of this application and are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to fiber optic connectors, and in particular to methods of securing optical fibers within fiber optic connectors using heating devices. Background technique [0004] The benefits of optical fiber include extremely wide bandwidth and low noise operation. Where high bandwidth is required between two interconnected locations, fiber optic cables with fiber optic connectors can be used to carry information between these locations. Fiber optic connectors are used to easily connect and disconnect fiber optic cables from interconnection locations for ma...
