Embodiment Construction

[0084] The principles and embodiments of the present invention will be described below in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. The specific examples are only used to explain the present invention, not to limit the scope of the present invention.

[0085] In order to solve the respective deficiencies of the BP algorithm and the MinSum algorithm, the inventors based on the following facts observed:

[0086] Most variable nodes are less affected by noise, and their log-likelihood is larger than the magnitude of the message;

[0087] · For most variable nodes, λ n and lambda nm grows rapidly with decoding iterations; and

[0088] ·When|λ n′m When |>>1,

[0089]

[0090] A new decoding method for LDPC codes is proposed. The decoding method has decoding performance close to BP algorithm and calculation and storage overhead close to MinSum algorithm.

[0091] This decoding method is an approximation of the BP algorithm, and it mainly performs an approximate process o...

Abstract

The invention provides a decoding method and a decoding device for LDPC codes. The decoding method is a subset approximation of the messaging algorithm. The decoding performance is close to that of amessage transmission algorithm. However, due to the fact that subset approximation is adopted, the calculation and storage expenditure of the method is far lower than that of a message passing algorithm. In some embodiments, the calculation and storage expenditure of the decoding method is close to that of a MinSum algorithm, and the decoding performance of the decoding method is close to that ofa message passing algorithm. Compared with a MinSum algorithm, the decoding method has advantages in decoding performance. Compared with a message passing algorithm, the decoding method has advantagesin the aspects of calculation and storage expenditure.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to the field of communication and storage, in particular to a decoding method and a decoding device. Background technique [0002] Channel coding is widely used in communication and storage systems to deal with data errors caused by channel noise or storage medium defects. In 1953, R. Gallager invented the Low Density Parity Check Code (LDPC), see the academic paper "Low-Density Parity-Check Codes" (IRE Trans. Inf. Theory, Vol. 8, pp. 21-28). In 1997, M. Luby and others further invented irregular LDPC codes. Later, T.Richardson et al. found that the decoding performance of irregular LDPC codes is better than that of regular LDPC codes. When the code length is longer, its performance can approach the Shannon limit. See the academic paper "Design of Capacity-Approaching Irregular Low-Density Parity-Check Codes" (IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory, Vol. 47, pp. 619-637). Due to its outstanding performance advantages, LDPC codes have been wid...
