Abstract

A manifold for treating a tissue site may include a first side and a second side opposite the first side. The second side of the manifold may be configured to face the tissue site, and to contract a greater amount than the first side of the manifold when exposed to a compressive force. In some illustrative examples, the manifold may be configured to distribute reduced pressure to the tissue site, and to contract when exposed to the reduced pressure. The manifold may be suitable for use with dressing assemblies, treatment systems, and methods for treating a tissue site.

Description

[0001] related application [0002] This application claims the benefit under 35 U.S.C. §119(e) of U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 62 / 458,916, filed February 14, 2017, the entire disclosure of which application is incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates generally to medical treatment systems, and more particularly, but not limitedly, to reduced-pressure dressings, systems, and methods for treating tissue sites. Background technique [0004] Clinical research and practice have shown that reducing pressure near a tissue site can enhance and accelerate new tissue growth at the tissue site. The applications of this phenomenon are numerous, but it has proven to be particularly advantageous for the treatment of wounds. Whether the etiology of the wound is trauma, surgery, or another cause, proper care of the wound is important to the outcome. The use of reduced pressure to treat a wound or other tissue may often be...
