Abstract

The invention discloses a configuration management method, relates to the technical field of network communication. The method and the device are used for solving the problem that a configuration object can be successfully created only through multiple times of message interaction between an NETCONF client and an NETCONF server. The method comprises the following steps: a NETCONF server receivinga first configuration message, wherein the first configuration message is used for creating a configuration object, the first configuration message comprises at least one first index description, theat least one first index description is used for indicating all sub-objects of the configuration object, and each first index description corresponds to one sub-object of the configuration object; when the first configuration message carries a first identifier, for each first index description, detecting whether a sub-object corresponding to the first index description exists in a database or not;if the sub-object does not exist in the database, creating the sub-object; and based on all the sub-objects of the configuration object, creating the configuration object. The method is suitable forthe process of creating the configuration object.
