Abstract

A storage, retrieval and handling system (10) for handling objects is disclosed. The storage, retrieval and handling system includes: a storage bin system (12) for receiving at a first end thereof a plurality of storage bins (14) providing storage of a plurality of objects; system (42), the retrieval conveyor system (42) is located at a second end of the storage bin system (12), the second end generally opposite the first end of the storage bin system (12), wherein the retrieval conveyor system (42 ) in communication with a plurality of storage bins (14); a programmable motion device (18) in communication with a pick delivery system (42) for receiving storage bins from the plurality of storage bins (14) (14), wherein the programmable motion device (18) includes an end effector (56) for grabbing and moving a selected object from a selected storage bin (14); and a purpose a floor box system (20) for receiving a selected object from an end effector (56) of a programmable motion device (18) at a first end of the destination box system (20), And the destination box system (20) provides access to a plurality of destination boxes (22) at its second end, generally opposite the first end of the destination box system.

Description

[0001] priority [0002] This application claims priority to US Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 62 / 473,825 filed March 20, 2017, the disclosure of which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. Background technique [0003] The present invention relates generally to storage and retrieval systems, and in particular to automated storage and retrieval systems for use with systems for handling objects. [0004] An automated storage and retrieval system (AS / RS) generally includes a computer-controlled system for automatically storing (putting) and retrieving items from defined storage locations. A traditional AS / RS usually uses a tote (or box), which is the minimum load unit of the system. In these systems, the tote is brought to the person who picks out the individual items from the tote. When the person has picked out the required number of items from the tote, the tote is then re-inducted back into the AS / RS. [0005] In these traditional systems, a car...
