Abstract

A system includes a device operable to affect an indoor air temperature of a building, and a controller. The controller is configured to obtain a cost function characterizing the cost of operating the facility over a future time period, determine a current state of the building by applying the data set to a neural network, select temperature bounds for the connection, extending the cost function to include a penalty term that increases cost when the indoor air temperature violates the temperature bounds, and determining the temperature for each of a plurality of time steps in the future time period set value. The temperature set point achieves a target value of the cost function within the future time period. The controller is further configured to control the device to drive the indoor air temperature toward the temperature set point during a first time step of the plurality of time steps.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit and priority of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 667,979, filed May 7, 2018, and U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 667,901, filed May 7, 2018, both of which are The entire content of the application is incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] The present application relates to a system for temperature control of a building, in particular a system comprising a device operable to affect the indoor air temperature of a building, and a controller. Background technique [0004] The present disclosure generally relates to managing energy costs in variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, room air conditioning (RAC) systems, or packaged air conditioning (PAC) systems that provide temperature control for buildings. Minimizing the energy consumption of such systems can lead to discomfort for the building's occupants since a comfortable temperature cannot b...
