The air conditioner is provided with a plurality of hardware assemblies for adjusting environmental parameters. The control method comprises the steps that fault information of the hardware assemblies assigned by the air conditioner is obtained, and the fault information is sent to a server; a locking instruction of the server in response to fault information feedback is received, and the assigned hardware assemblies are locked according to the locking instruction; or a locking instruction fed back by the server is not received, and all the hardware assemblies are locked; or an operation instruction of the server in response to the fault information feedbackis received, and operation parameters of the assigned hardware assemblies are adjusted according to the operation instruction. The air conditioner locks the failed hardware assemblies according to the locking instruction, so that the enlarged hardware damage caused by continuous operation of the failed hardware assemblies is avoided, and meanwhile, the damage to users due to hardware fault is avoided.
