Abstract

A video device according to one embodiment comprises at least one of the following: an input connector to which a video signal cable that transmits a video signal is connected; and an output connectorto which the video signal cable is connected. The video device, if having the input connector, comprises a first resistor, and if having the output connector, comprises a third resistor. In a case ofthe input connecter being provided, a first signal line, which is one of a plurality of signal lines connected to the input connector, is connected via the first resistor to a second potential, different from a first potential, the first signal line being connected, if the input connector is properly connected to another video device via the video signal cable, to the first potential via a secondresistor included in the other video device and via a first switch that is closed when a main power source of the other video device is ON. In a case of the output connector being provided, a secondsignal line, which is one of a plurality of signal lines connected to the output connector, is connected via the third resistor to a fourth potential, different from a third potential, the second signal line being connected, if the output connector is properly connected to the other video device via the video signal cable, to the third potential via a fourth resistor included in the other video device and via a second switch that is closed when the main power source of the other video device is ON. The video device further comprises a connection determination unit that determines, on the basisof the potential of the first signal line or the potential of the second signal line, whether the video signal cable is properly connected.
