The method of the present invention includes loading a selected set of preset parameters into a source device and a sink device of the DisplayPort device of an embedded system. Link training is then performed between the source device and the sink device utilizing the first set of preset parameter and the link status (bit lock, symbol lock and inter-lane alignment) of the DisplayPort device is then read. If the link status indicates that the link training is successful, a link is established between the source device and the sink device, or if the link status indicates that the link training is unsuccessful, a different set of preset parameters is loaded and link training is then performed again. The steps of loading, performing and reading are repeated with each of the plurality of sets of preset parameters until the link status indicates that the link training is successful.

A high speed video cable carries signals according to the High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) or DisplayPort standards, and includes a raw cable and may include a boost device. The raw cable includes coaxial lines of a characteristic cable impedance higher than the impedance implied in the standards. Aspects of a method and system for utilizing a single connection for efficient delivery of power and multimedia information are provided. In this regard, power supplied and/or received over a network link may be controlled based on multimedia content communicated over the network link. The multimedia content may be converted to and/or from Ethernet frames for communication over the network link utilizing audio video bridging. The multimedia content may be raw video or may be formatted according to, for example, HDMI or DisplayPort specifications. The power supplied may be controlled by selecting one of a plurality of power classes. The selection of power class may be based on resolution of the multimedia content, whether the multimedia comprises audio and/or video, and/or based on latency targets.

A system and method for communicating DisplayPort information is provided. The system includes: a local unit comprising a local controller operable to produce a request packet in response to a DisplayPort request received by the local unit from a DisplayPort source unit and to transmit the request packet to a remote unit of the system via a first simplex channel of a dual simplex communications link; and the remote unit comprising a remote controller operable to produce a reply packet in response to a DisplayPort reply received by the remote unit from a DisplayPort sink unit and to transmit the reply packet to the local unit via a second simplex channel of the communications link. The invention relates to a method for switching a multimedia source and multimedia sink from an operating mode to a standby mode, and a method for switching a multimedia source and multimedia sink from a standby mode to an operating mode. When the consumer device comprises two distributed boxes, such as a TV in which the display (multimedia sink) is separated from the processing unit (multimedia source) via a cable, then meeting the green rules for standby power becomes more complicated. The power consumption of processing unit and display unit should be minimal in standby mode. The methods of the invention provide for synchronizing the power states of both units, such that only the relevant parts remain active. The method is applicable on configurations where a DisplayPort link is used between a multimedia source, such as a set-top box, and a multimedia sink, such as a display. The invention provides a reduction in overall power consumption, while still complying with the Display-Port configuration and operation standard. In an embodiment of the invention, the source and sink are configured to allow communication of standby and wake-up requests/commands when the transmitter and receiver for the auxiliary channel are powered down. An information handling system display accepts manual user inputs of display presentation parameters at a local display input device and communicates the inputs to an information handling system for application of the input presentation parameters to visual information provided from the information handling system to the display. The information handling system generates a display icon for presentation at the display that is representative of the user inputs at the display, such as a brightness, contrast or color gain setting. For example, a DisplayPort compliant auxiliary link communicates user inputs from a timing controller of the sink device of the display to a display input manager of the source device of the information handling system. Visual information adjusted for the user input presentation parameter is communicated from the source device through the main link to the sink device for presentation at the display.

A DisplayPort socket includes a first composite element and a second composite element. The first composite element includes a first insulating body partially and tightly covering plural terminals so that the terminals are exposed on a plate of the first insulating body and form plural conduction zones. The second composite element includes a second insulating body partially and tightly covering plural terminals so that the terminals are exposed on a plate of the second insulating body and form plural conduction zones. A data transmission system is provided. The data transmission system includes a source device having a source device controller and a register and a sink device having a sink device controller. The data transmission system also includes a transmission link coupling the source device and the sink device. The transmission link includes a unidirectional main line having a plurality of main link channels, a bidirectional auxiliary line configured to transmit data between the source device and the sink device at a first data rate, and a unidirectional interrupt line. The transmission link is configured to transmit data from the source device to the sink device over one of the main link lines at a second data rate and to transmit data from the sink device to the source device over the auxiliary line at the second data rate. While decoding errors occur at a decoding stage, the invention actively adjusts settings of a physical layer by using an ANSI10B/8B decoder and performs data recovery by using a correcting unit that improves the reliability of input data.

A GPU can be configured to selectively function as a PCIe switch so that a PCIe link can be formed between the GPU and a remote GPU. The GPU can include a DisplayPort interface that is coupled via a multiplexer to a USB type-C port. When it is desired to implement remote graphics, the GPU can cause the DisplayPort interface to instead function as a PCIe interface between the GPU and the multiplexer. With this PCIe connection, the GPU can forward its PCIe interface with the CPU to the remote GPU via the USB type-C port. A dual-purpose socket has a body, pin base and a pin set. The body has a front side, a chamber defined in the body and at least one opening. The at least one opening is formed through the front side, communicates with the chamber and allows an HDMI or Displayport plug to be inserted into the chamber. The pin base is mounted in the chamber and corresponds to HDMI and Displayport plugs. The pin set is mounted on the pin base and comprises a detecting pin. When the HDMI or Displayport plug is inserted into the chamber of the body, the detecting pin will respectively not touch or touch a pin of the HDMI or Displayport plug.
