DisplayPort (DP) is a digital display interface developed by a consortium of PC and chip manufacturers (particularly Maxell, Lattice, Philips and Sony) and standardized by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA). The interface is primarily used to connect a video source to a display device such as a computer monitor, and it can also carry audio, USB, and other forms of data.

Method for switching a multimedia source and multimedia sink from an operating mode to a standby mode, and from a standby mode to an operating mode

The invention relates to a method for switching a multimedia source and multimedia sink from an operating mode to a standby mode, and a method for switching a multimedia source and multimedia sink from a standby mode to an operating mode. When the consumer device comprises two distributed boxes, such as a TV in which the display (multimedia sink) is separated from the processing unit (multimedia source) via a cable, then meeting the green rules for standby power becomes more complicated. The power consumption of processing unit and display unit should be minimal in standby mode. The methods of the invention provide for synchronizing the power states of both units, such that only the relevant parts remain active. The method is applicable on configurations where a DisplayPort link is used between a multimedia source, such as a set-top box, and a multimedia sink, such as a display. The invention provides a reduction in overall power consumption, while still complying with the Display-Port configuration and operation standard. In an embodiment of the invention, the source and sink are configured to allow communication of standby and wake-up requests/commands when the transmitter and receiver for the auxiliary channel are powered down. The invention also provides embodiments where the switching to and from standby of the source is triggered by user

Implementing method for function of DP interface and television set

The invention discloses a television which realizes the DisplayPort (DP for short) interface function and a realization method of the DP interface function, the television comprises a side end DP circuit board and a television main signal circuit board; the side end DP circuit board comprises a DP interface terminal for receiving DP signals; a first data format converter which is connected with the DP interface terminal and used for converting the DP signals to LVDS signals by carrying out the data format conversion; and one or two LVDS interfaces which are connected with output ends of the first data format converter and used for transmitting the LVDS signals; the television main signal circuit board comprises one or two LVDS interfaces for receiving the LVDS signals which are transmitted by the side end DP circuit board, input ends of the LVDS interfaces are connected with the output ends of the LVDS interfaces in the side end DP circuit board through AWG shielding connecting wires; and a second data format converter which is used for converting the LVDS signals to digital video signals or RGB signals by carrying out the data format conversion. The invention simply realizes the DP interface function, thereby having broad application prospects.
