The method comprises the steps as follows: obtaining multi-province power grid operation state information; substituting the operation state information into a pre-constructed multi-province combined power grid state evaluation index system model for calculation to obtain each index value; determining positive and negative ideal solutions of the indexes based on the index values in combination with a TOPSIS method; evaluating the state of the multi-province combined power gridbased on the index positive and negative ideal solutions; combining actual requirements of power grid operation personnel and establishing a relationship between empirical cognition of power grid operation personnel on the importance of each index to power grid operation and an index comprehensive result by utilizing a sorting method approaching to an ideal solution. The method is simple and visual, can achieve dynamic evaluation of the operation of the power grid, facilitates the timely mastering of the operation state of the power grid for a power grid dispatching operator, can analyze whether a current tie line plan has a further adjustment and improvement space or not through the comparison with an ideal state, and provides a guidance for the optimized operation of the power grid.
