Problems solved by technology

However, the consequence of RAN1's decision to make X<L is that if the only allowed RLM-RS reconfiguration mechanism is an RRC-based mechanism, the UE will likely require RRC signaling to perform intra-cell mobility, which is different from the first NR in RAN2 mobile protocol violation

Embodiment 1

[0298] Embodiment 1. A method of optimized reconfiguration for RLM and beam monitoring by a wireless device, the method comprising:

[0299] - receiving a first configuration message comprising RLM parameters;

[0300] - receiving a second configuration message comprising updated RLM parameters, wherein the second configuration message is a lower layer signal compared to the first configuration message.

Embodiment 2

[0301] Embodiment 2. The method according to 1, further comprising any combination of any of the above steps, processes or benefits.

Embodiment 3

[0302] Embodiment 3. The method according to any one of the preceding embodiments, further comprising:

[0303] - providing user data; and

[0304] - forwarding said user data to a host computer via transmission to a base station.

Abstract

A method by a wireless device (110) is provided for optimized reconfiguration of radio link monitoring (RLM) and beam monitoring. The method includes receiving, from a first network node (160), a first message comprising at least one RLM parameter. A second message indicating activation of the at least one RLM parameter associated with the first message is received. The second message is a lower layer signal compared to the first message.

Description

Background technique [0001] The purpose of the RLM function in the UE is to monitor the downlink radio link quality of the serving cell in the RRC_CONNECTED state and is based on the cell-specific reference signal always associated with a given LTE cell and derived from the Physical Cell Identifier (PCI) (CRS). In turn, this enables the UE to determine whether it is in-sync or out-of-sync with respect to its serving cell while in the RRC_CONNECTED state. [0002] For RLM purposes, the UE's estimate of the downlink radio link quality is compared with an Out-of-Synchronization (OOS) threshold and an In-Synchronization (IS) threshold (which may be referred to as Qout and Qin, respectively). These thresholds are expressed in terms of the Block Error Rate (BLER) of a hypothetical Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) transmission from the serving cell. Specifically, Qout corresponds to a BLER of 10%, and Qin corresponds to a BLER of 2%. The same threshold level may apply wit...
