Abstract

The invention discloses an aluminum alloy composition capable of simplifying a semi-solid casting process and a semi-solid casting method. An aluminum alloy comprises the following components of, by weight, about 0.03%-0.50% of Nb, about 0.03%-0.50% of V, about 0.03%-0.50% of Ti, about 0%-0.50% of B, and the balance Al and impurities. In the aluminum alloy, the weight ratio of Nb plus V to Ti is about 1-5 (preferably about 2-3), and the weight ratio of Nb plus V plus Ti to B is about 1-15 (preferably about 5-10). The aluminum alloy can be formed by incorporating 1 part by weight of an intermediate alloy (a grain refiner) into about 27-80 parts by weight of a conventional aluminum alloy, and the intermediate alloy comprises the following components of, by weight, about 1.5%-4.0% of Nb, about 0.5%-2.0% of Ti and about 0.2%-0.8% of B.
