Abstract

Provided herein is a method for establishing accessors to a building from probe data. Methods may include: receiving probe data points; determining probe data point candidates for a first edge of a building; determining, for the probe data point candidates, probe data points entering or exiting the building; generating, from the probe data points entering or exiting the building, a probe density histogram for the first edge of the building, where the probe density histogram represents a volume of probe data points at each of a plurality of positions across a width of the first edge of the building; applying a deconvolution method to the probe density histogram to obtain a multi-modal histogram; determining, from the multi-modal histogram, a number of statistically significant peaks, whereeach statistically significant peak represents an accessor to the building in the first edge of the building; and providing data for navigational assistance based on the computed accessors to the building.

Description

technical field [0001] Example embodiments described herein generally relate to identifying building accessors, such as entrances, exits, doors, etc., and, more specifically, to using crowd sourced location data to identify buildings on representations of buildings. The existence and location of the visiting institution. Background technique [0002] Map generation and identification of points of interest have historically been performed by cartographers who manually draw and identify objects in an area. This manual drawing on paper has given way to digital drawing which can be updated with greater frequency and with less effort than historically possible. The drawing area may include drawing of roads, paths, building locations, etc. To help facilitate map generation and updates, crowdsourced detection data can be used to illustrate where people travel, and use those paths to identify available paths on the map. Crowdsourced "probe" data can be used to identify available ...
