Problems solved by technology

However, this carries the risk of sealing the non-sterile surface between the non-woven fabric and the gas-impermeable membrane, as well as the risk of an incomplete seal
Moreover, these additional steps have to be carried out manually, thus preventing fully automated handling of the packaging tool while introducing it into the clean room, and presenting additional contamination risks

example 1

[0057] A nonwoven layer of polypropylene spunbonded ultrafine filaments was laminated to a polypropylene film. The polypropylene film is provided with holes by means of needling. By offset printing, a linear pattern of adhesive in the form of a hot-melt methacrylate resin was first applied to the film, followed by a coarse rectangular grid of polyurethane laminating adhesive containing a UV photoinitiator. Then, the two layers were laminated under UV irradiation. To activate the adhesive, the package is heated by irradiation with IR lamps to melt the hot melt adhesive.

example 2

[0059] The structure of example 2 is in figure 1 is shown in the inactive state. The innermost layer is 1 layer of non-woven fabric. The nonwoven layer 1 is bonded to a second layer, the second film layer 4, which is impermeable to sterile gases or vapours, by means of standard laminating adhesives (not shown in the figures). The third layer is the activatable adhesive 2 layer. The outermost layer is the first membrane layer 3, which is also impermeable to sterilization gases or vapours.

[0060] In order to prepare the film, the first film layer 3 and the second film layer 4 are provided as figure 1 The comb-like pattern of cutouts indicated by hole 5. In the finished film, these patterns of the two layers are arranged such that the combs intermesh. Therefore, there is no path for the sterilant to enter the package directly. Thus, the sterilant has to follow the figure 1 The double curved path shown. Also, the aperture 5 always faces an uncut film area which is able t...

Abstract

Disclosed are films and a packaging for gas or vapor decontaminable packaging applications and a method for creating a sterile packaging using the same. These films are particularly useful for sterilestorage and transport of objects for medical, pharmaceutical or cosmetic uses, in particular of sterile pharmaceutical primary packaging means, like vials, ampules, syringes, or cartridges. Said filmcomprises at least a layer of a selectively permeable non-woven, a layer of a punctured film, and an adhesive which can be activated by energy transmission. Optionally it comprises further film layers. The method for creating a sterile packaging comprises the step of hermetically closing the packaging by activating the adhesive thereby making the non-woven impermeable.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to films and packages for gas or vapor purifiable packaging applications and methods of making purge packages using the films and packages. These films are especially suitable for sterile storage and transport for medical, pharmaceutical or cosmetic purposes, especially for sterile pharmaceutical primary packaging means such as vials, ampoules, syringes or cartridges. Background technique [0002] When manufacturing packages for sterile storage and transport of objects, the basic requirement is that the package be sterilizable and be able to maintain a sterile atmosphere within the package. Especially for sterile pharmaceutical primary packaging means such as vials, ampoules, syringes or cartridges, a typical package for transporting a pharmaceutical primary packaging means from the manufacturer to the pharmaceutical A tub or tray for packaging tools that is sealed with a non-woven fabric and then enclosed in one or two b...
