example 1

[0057] Example 1. A method of managing uplink packet duplication at a user equipment (UE), comprising: receiving, by the user equipment (UE) from a gNB, an indication instructing the user equipment (UE) to discard packets at the user equipment (UE) protocol data units (PDUs) buffered at one or more associated protocol entities at unit (PDU).

example 2

[0058] Example 2. The example aspect of the method of example 1, wherein the protocol data unit (PDU) is a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) protocol data unit (PDU).

example 3

[0059] Example 3. The example aspect of the method according to example 2, wherein discarding comprises: clearing a buffered packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) protocol data unit (PDU), or storing a buffered packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) protocol data unit (PDU) for transmission.

Abstract

A method for managing uplink packet duplication at user equipment is described. The example method includes receiving, an indication from a network node, the indication instructing the user equipment (UE) to discard protocol data units (PDUs) that are buffered at one or more associated protocol entities at the user equipment (UE). The method further includes discarding, in response to receiving the indication, the protocol data units (PDUs) that are buffered at the one or more associated protocol entities.

Description

technical field [0001] This specification relates to wireless communications, and in particular to replication of data for ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (URLLC) communications. Background technique [0002] A communication system may be a facility that enables communication between two or more nodes or devices, such as fixed or mobile communication devices. Signals may be carried on wired or wireless carriers. [0003] An example of a cellular communication system is the architecture being standardized by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). The latest development in this field is often referred to as the Long Term Evolution (LTE) of the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) radio access technology. E-UTRA (Evolved UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access) is the air interface of 3GPP's Long Term Evolution (LTE) upgrade path for mobile networks. In LTE, a base station or access point (AP), known as an enhanced node AP (eNB), provides wireless ac...
